Marija Vlajković, ALF researcher participated in the Annual Conference #2: Law, Politics and Social Movements in Illiberal Times – Resistance, Reaction and Oppression, held from 18 to 20 June 2025 at the Faculty of Law, University of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Organized as part of the SOS4Democracy project, this international academic event brought together scholars and practitioners to discuss democratic resilience, legal transformations, the role of social movements under illiberal pressures and ways to build more robust democracies
Marija Vlajković took part in Panel 16: “Civil Society and Institutional Renewal”, chaired by Carlotta Bartolucci. Together with co-author Bojana Todorović from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law, she presented the paper titled “Youth Mobilization for Democracy and the Rule of Law:
Comparative Lessons from Student Protests in Serbia and Central European Countries”. Their contribution examined the transformative potential of youth activism in resisting democratic backsliding and promoting institutional accountability throughout (re-)democratisation process.
The conference provided an opportunity for meaningful dialogue on the intersections between legal norms, political activism, and civil society in challenging environments, aligning closely with ALF’s commitment to strengthening legal fundamentals across Europe.
